Peat-Based Landscaping Substrates Use
Unlike greenhouse or nursery substrates, landscaping mixes are
meant to be integrated into open soil – public parks, gardens,
roadside strips, or urban beds. Landscaping substrates improve
poor soils, support root development, and hold structure over
time. We mix each batch to match the soil type, planting
method, and conditions on site.
Turf areas need structure that holds up under mowing, foot traffic, and weather. We mix substrates for lawns, sports fields, and grass-covered walkways using peat, sand, and bark — keeping the surface stable and roots well-aerated. These mixes also work around tree pits built into lawn zones.
- Medium to coarse texture to support surface rooting
- Resists compaction from mowing and light traffic
- Holds moisture without waterlogging
- Works for both seeding and turf-roll installation
- Suitable for lawn-integrated tree zones

Peatman-selected substrates are mixed with precision, balancing water retention, aeration, and stability to meet the needs of your seedlings at every stage. We are agronomists, and we know everything-peat.
